Next I want to touch on the pool at the hotel. The hotel has refused any type of resolution so if the situation is resolved and our money returned it will be the sole result of efforts made by our bank. If we had followed the information from the hotel’s “customer service” and waited the time they suggested we would not have been able to issue a dispute via the bank as 60 days is the maximum allowed time to file a dispute with our bank. At this point it is now over 30 days since we came back from our trip and the situation has still not been resolved. We have sent them screenshots from our bank and they are still denying a second withdrawal. The hotel has also told us they have absolutely no record of a second transaction. Initially, the hotel was insistent they only took it once and any authorization hold would be released within 30 to 90 days at the outside. We have spoken with both our bank and the hotel directly about this duplicate charge. As it was a Visa Debit card, the funds came directly out of our bank account. In our case, they took this amount twice.
The hotel also put on a authorization security hold, an amount which should be released fairly quickly (within a few days).
We, like everyone else, provided a credit card for the extra charges like resort fees. Check-in was where our main problems began. The ropes did not, however, stop everyone as some people just climbed over and checked themselves in, cutting past the line in the process. The hotel did have a section where people were supposed to be able to do their own “express” check-in, however it was roped off. This line was slow moving and in the way of guests trying to get around us as well. There was a huge line of people all waiting with their luggage to get checked in. Let’s start with the bad: the experience of checking in was massively chaotic and disorganized.
Sadly that latter experience has tainted the whole experience with the hotel and it is one we hope that no one else has to share. We had two very different experiences with the Flamingo Hotel and we will touch on both in this review. Definitely a walk to hit up shows near Excalibur, NY, MGM, Mandalay Bay or Luxor. The location is perfect for easy access to watch the Bellagio fountains, eat at Cheesecake Factory, Margaritaville, or Ruth Chris Steakhouse. The hotel itself was clean, although we were supposed to get text messages asking if we wanted room cleaning services and we never did.

The resort fee “free” wi-fi sucks and often would just show as “no internet connection.” You’re also limited to only 2 devices before you are charged an extra free for the sketchy internet. A bit of a walk but much quieter and my boys enjoyed it thankfully. We complained and were told we could use the pool at Harrah’s next door. Midway through our stay, our boys were refusing to even go to the crowded family pool. The rules vary though cause we saw people walking around with coffee and water that clearly weren’t bought at the pool. Expect to have your bag searched because they want you to pay their exorbitant pool-side food and drink prices and we were told we couldn’t even bring in a thermos of water. Loud music from the adult pool blares into the family pool and mixes with the family pool area noise to make an echoing racket. The advertised slides were only open on the weekend and the waterfall is in the adult pool. The actual family pool ended up being a tiny pool back in a corner. Apparently pool areas had been switched around but the Flamingo website still shows the lovely 21+ pool as the family pool, it’s very deceptive. We booked at the Flamingo for the “Family Friendly” pool advertised for our 5 and 10 year old boys.
